Happy September!

This is our favorite time of year not only for weather but for the pinnacle of home sales that has us out there staging more homes than at any other time of year.

This summer we made a new acquisition to our team!  Meet Sig (named after one of our favorite designers Brazil's, Sig Bergamin) our work horse of a van that helps our design team across the Bay Area as we touch up staged homes, water plants or do a myriad of tasks required for us to keep our staged houses looking sharp and on point.  We invite you to come say hi if you see Sig parked in your neighborhood.

Sage Sayde Says…

Question:

I am hosting a dinner party for my friends birthday and need tips to make my house look fresh and fun for 12 guests.  How can I elevate the interiors without spending a lot of time and money?

Sage Sayde says:

First off, eliminate all clutter in your living, kitchen and dining space where you will be entertaining.  Kitchen counters should be cleared of non-essential items for the event (such as spices and oils, toaster oven, fruit bowl, coffee maker, utensil canister etc.).  Place these in a pantry or lower cabinets and out of site.  Add a potted bromeliad or seasonal potted flowering plant to add color and life to the space.

Recycle or give away the stacks of magazines and newspapers on your coffee table. Buy 4-5 new throw pillows for your couch that are at least 20” square, and in bright colors or in a print, or interesting in texture:  Shibori, stripes, turquoise, ikat, linen, suzani print or pom-poms.  Make sure they are stuffed optimally to ‘stand-up’ rather than look slouchy and droopy.

Rugs are very affordable these days.  Replace your living room rug that you’ve been meaning to ditch forever, and replace it with a large rug 8'x10’ minimum natural fiber rug (jute and cotton blends are sturdy and comfortable).  This will lend a polished foundation that elevates the whole room.

Add a large scale mirror to the main living room wall to create a dramatic focal point: think starburst shape, beveled or mosaic edges, or even a collage of small mirrors clustered together.  This will help bounce light around the room and make the space feel bigger.

Finally, squeeze some fresh limes to add to your top shelf tequila and soda cocktails; and let the fun begin!
